Rāpeti Room

4 months- 2 years

The Rāpeti room embraces a culture of respect and relationships. We focus on creating a caring and nurturing environment where tamariki have the space and time to move freely and explore at their own pace.

We believe that keeping our environment homelike and working together with our families to ensure that rituals are mirrored.

Tamariki have the opportunity to explore open ended resources allowing them to creatively express themselves and problem solve.

We practice the RIE theory which demonstrates slow, kind and intentional moments lead from the heart.

Hipi Room

2 years - 3.5 years

In the Hipi Room, we value play and interactions with our natural environment as important learning tools for our children’s learning and development. We believe that children's free uninterrupted play is precious. Through this play, children are leading their own learning. We allow space for our children to be themselves, to create their own stories about who they are and how they feel, and express themselves.

Children have the choice to access indoor and outdoor spaces when they desire, as a part of our free flow environment. We believe there is no bad weather; only bad clothing! We encourage children to dress appropriately for all weather through the use of wet weather gear and rain coats, or sun hats and sunscreen.

We recognise the importance of physical literacy skills, as we believe that movement drives development for children of all ages.

Throughout a range of experiences, our Kaiako (teachers) support tamariki in developing their skills to explore, negotiate, turn-take and develop their independence further. We work alongside children, giving them a hand up rather than solving their problems for them. We respect and care for the children in a safe and warm environment that enables children to reach their full potential to learn.

Kurī Room

3.5 years - 6 years

In the Kurī Room, we value play and interactions with our natural environment as important learning tools for our children’s learning and development.

Throughout a range of experiences, our Kaiako (teachers) support tamariki in developing their skills to explore, negotiate, turn-take and develop their independence further.

Children in the Kurī Room are encouraged to take safe risks throughout their play that allow them to strengthen their confidence further. Our Kaiako provide a variety of opportunities for our children to explore and extend their physical capabilities and working theories further.

We endeavour for our tamariki to leave our centre as confident and competent learners ready for their next journey through school.
